Yuko Noguchi, Deputy Director of the Japan Culture Center in Beijing of the Japan Foundation for International Exchange, and Huazi Kato, Deputy Consul of the Japanese Consulate, visited the Japan Research Center of Shanghai Jiaotong University


On the morning of November 12, 2018, Yuko Noguchi, deputy director of the Japanese Cultural Center in Beijing of the Japan International Exchange Foundation, and Huazi Kato, deputy consul of the Japanese Consulate, visited the Japan Research Center. Ji Weidong, director of the Japan Research Center, and Ding Jian, deputy director of the Japan Research Center received the guests and held talks in the conference room on the second floor of the north fourth floor of Xuhui Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Ji Weidong welcomed the visits of Yuko Noguchi and Huazi Kato. He introduced the establishment background, personnel composition and activities of the Japan Research Center. He mentioned that at present, the Japanese Research Center's WeChat official account platform has received extensive attention from the society and academia, and the Center will launch the Japanese research journal East Asian Studies (a book instead of a journal). The first public LED speech "TELL+JAPAN" hosted by the Japan Research Center will be held on November 24. In addition, on September 3, 2018, the first China Japan Corporate Legal Forum hosted by the Japan Research Center was successfully held in Tokyo, Japan. The forum received extensive attention from Chinese and Japanese corporate legal professionals and scholars, with an unprecedented number of 380 participants. In the future, the forum is planned to be held alternately in Shanghai, China and Tokyo, Japan, aiming to build an in-depth dialogue and exchange platform between Chinese and Japanese corporate legal experts, government functional departments, lawyers and legal experts. At the same time, the Japan Research Center has signed an agreement with the Commercial Press to translate and publish Japanese law related monographs. Finally, the two sides discussed and took a group photo on the future academic conferences and research projects of the International Exchange Fund's assistance to the Japanese Research Center.

Ji Weidong, the director of the Japan Research Center, and Cai Yuping, the deputy director of the Center, received the guests in the conference room on the second floor of the north fourth floor of Xuhui Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and discussed the possibility of future cooperation between the two sides in various fields.


Ji Weidong first introduced various activities carried out by the Japan Research Center since its establishment in June 2018, such as the Sino Japanese Enterprise Legal Forum held in Tokyo, Japan, and the Sino Japanese Cooperation Seminar on Politics and Law. He pointed out that the Japan Research Center would next establish academic journals and plan to cooperate with the Commercial Press to translate Japan Research Series. At the same time, the research field of the Center has interdisciplinary characteristics, including trade mechanism, intellectual property, scientific and technological innovation, enterprise cooperation and other topics. Cheng Shengyi spoke highly of the colorful activities of the Japan Research Center and expressed the hope that both sides would strengthen cooperation. According to the contents of the past negotiations, it was formally decided to set up a title lecture "Shanghai Jiaotong University Nitto Special Lecture", which will be held at least four times a year (once every three months) from the autumn semester of 2018. Shanghai Jiaotong University is responsible for the invitation of speakers and the operation of lectures, while Nitto Electric (China) Investment Co., Ltd. is responsible for providing the cost of naming lectures to pay the remuneration of speakers, travel expenses, etc. Finally, the two sides decided to hold a signing ceremony on December 12, 2018 on matters related to the naming speech, and hold the first Nippon naming speech on that day.
