In the afternoon of August 2, 2019, under the lead and arrangement of the Japan Research Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Professor Zhou Yongfeng, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and vice president of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and his delegation went to the Innovation Center of Nippon Electric (Shanghai) for an exchange visit. Cai Yuping, deputy director of the Japan Research Center, attended the exchange.
Accompanied by Mr. Great Wall Shengyi, the director of Ridong (Electrician) China Investment Co., Ltd., the delegation led by the professor of the School of Chemical Chemistry of our university first visited the enterprise overview exhibition and business product exhibition area. The lecturer warmly introduced the strong technical ability and product development ability of Nido Group in various business fields as a diversified intermediate material manufacturer. Especially in the medical and health field, with bonding technology, coating technology, polymer synthesis and processing technology as the core, Nitto Group has developed many new products such as surgical tape, percutaneous absorption patch, etc.

At the end of the visit, our professor and the research department director Zuo Zhuzhengzhi, who came to Shanghai from the Nido Electrical Engineering Headquarters in Osaka, Japan, and the director of Nido Qingdao Research Institute Otsuyu and other Nido R&D technology directors attended the innovation technology exchange meeting of both sides. Chairman Cheng Shengyi first extended a warm welcome to the visit of the professors of Shanghai Jiaotong University, and said that Shanghai Jiaotong University is a famous university in China. The exchange and cooperation between Nippon and Shanghai Jiaotong University began in June 2018. The two sides cooperated closely in a short year, and successfully held many activities. The visit of the professors of the Institute of Chemical Engineering is another new starting point for exchange and cooperation, hoping that the two sides can have more cooperation. Later, Minister Masahiro Sasaki briefly introduced the global R&D profile of Nitto Electric. He said that Nitto Electric is a multinational enterprise focusing on product R&D and innovation, and has attached great importance to product production and R&D in China for many years. He also set up an innovation research institute in Qingdao, China. The annual sales of Nisso Group in 2018 is about 50.4 billion yuan, of which the annual sales of Nisso China is about 21.8 billion yuan.
On behalf of the delegation, Vice President Zhou Yongfeng expressed his heartfelt thanks to Chairman Cheng Shengyi and Minister Masahiro Sasaki for his research. Zhou Yongfeng said that many disciplines of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University have entered the double first-class construction plan of our university. The research level of the School is among the top universities in China, and some majors have also entered the ranks of one thousandth in the world. The college attaches great importance to innovation and industry university research cooperation, and has a long history of cooperation with enterprises. Later, Vice President Zhou Yongfeng introduced Professor Xiong Huiming, Professor Zhang Yongjian, Professor Zhao Yaping, Associate Professor Fang Jianhua and other scholars who attended the exchange meeting to Ridong Electrical Engineering, and invited the professors to introduce their research fields and innovative research and development achievements respectively.

At the end of the meeting, both parties said that the product development field of Nippon Electric has much in common with the research field of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and they very much look forward to further exchanges and cooperation in research and development in the future. The two sides also said that this exchange only involved some research and development fields, and hoped that more research fields could join in the exchange activities soon.
