On January 11, a delegation led by the head of the Department of Social and Cultural Science Research of Okayama University, Diao Yaxiong, visited the Japan Research Center. Ji Weidong, director of the Japan Research Center, Ding Jian, deputy director of the Japan Research Center, Cai Yuping and others received guests and held talks in the conference room on the second floor of the Japan Research Center.

Director Ji Weidong first welcomed the visit of the head of Diao Yaxiong Research Section and his delegation. He reviewed the basic situation and activities of the Japan Research Center since its establishment on June 23, 2018. He said that since its establishment, the Japan Research Center has successfully held many series of lectures and large-scale forums, which have attracted extensive attention from people inside and outside the school and scholars. The first issue of East Asian Studies, a periodical academic publication with books as the journal, has been published, and the second issue will be published soon after editing. Since the establishment of the Japan Research Center, the Japanese Observation WeChat official account platform has released at least one issue every ten days, with an average of three articles per issue. So far, thousands of people have paid attention to it, rapidly improving the academic reputation and social influence of the Japan Research Center.
Diao Yaxiong, the head of the research section, thanked Director Ji Weidong for his warm reception. He said that the Japanese Research Center has made so many achievements in such a short time since its establishment, which is very admirable. Then, the head of the fishing research section introduced the basic situation of the two offices (Changchun and Shanghai) that Okayama University currently has in China, and briefly introduced the Japanese speech contest and other activities hosted by Okayama University in China. The head of the fishing research section said that Gangshan University looked forward to strengthening cooperation and exchanges with Shanghai Jiaotong University to further promote the joint improvement of teaching and scientific research between teachers and students.
Then, Deputy Director Ding Jian introduced the basic situation of the Japanese Department of the School of Foreign Languages, and gave a brief introduction to the exchange visit of 10 students from Shanghai Jiaotong University to Kyushu, Japan, in March. Deputy Director Ding said that he looked forward to Gangshan University sending teachers and administrators to Shanghai Jiaotong University for medium - and short-term exchanges, so as to deepen the understanding of both Chinese and Japanese universities on each other's teaching and administrative work. Cai Yuping, deputy director of Shanghai Jiaotong University, said that at present, Shanghai Jiaotong University has cooperative and exchange relations with 24 universities in Japan, and also has many friendly agreements with many multinational enterprises in Japan, such as Toyota, Hitachi Huacheng, SMC, etc. He looked forward to the establishment of cooperative and exchange relations between Shanghai Jiaotong University and Okayama University in the future, so as to make joint efforts to improve the teaching and scientific research level of both sides.
